You will find neither grammar nor a lexicon of Azharian here, for such a thing is impossible. Azharian is not like other languages; it cannot be understood or learned from paper. Azharian is the tongue of the emissaries of the Realm of Light upon Qurand, and it can be said to be one of the pillars of their power.

Let us speak more of the ancient Azhars before revealing certain truths about Azharian, their language. At the time of their Descent, each of the Azhars took up one of the Secrets of the Citadel and became its guardian. Although every Secret is known to each Azhar, at the moment of Descent, one of the many sides of the Mind-Coin had to be face up. As for Music, it was taken by Linninon, who constructed space from it. Aliawir seized Light and Wisdom, which never ceased to pour from his delicate palms. Yet Qurand was a cold place, and Light alone was not enough. According to one legend, it was an almost unknown Azhar from Aliawir’s retinue who took up the watch over Fire, which has since borne the name Aurán. However, Alirawis is considered the highest Azhar, for her power is active and manifest. It was she who took up Speech and Meaning and gave birth to Azharian.
Azharian carries within it fullness and tranquility, but also the stellar heat of Alirawis’s will and power. In the mouth of Alirawis, it sounds like celestial thunder. Then, it is akin to the blinding heat of the sun, for its precision is deafening; to an ordinary mortal, it appears as cosmic silence or the roaring of the Horamen Waterfalls. In the mouth of Linninon, however, Azharian is like the sound of an organ or birdsong, like the quiet chiming of ice crystals, or the restless calling of foaming waves.
Several things, however, remain common to all: Azharian is so uniquely constructed that anything said in it is always true. The grammar of this language does not allow for the creation of false sentences. The reality is even more complex, for Azharian has no word similar to our word “truth,” just as it has no word for “lie.” Just as one cannot say whether a mountain is “true” or “false”—it simply is—likewise, every sentence in Azharian simply is, and cannot not be. Another peculiarity of Azharian is that although almost no one is able to speak this language, everyone understands it. But each understands it only to the extent they are capable; therefore, the comprehension of individual Azharian sentences differs vastly between different people. Linked to this is another fact: although most people encounter Azharian, almost no one recognizes it. It remains hidden, even though it resonates constantly across the cosmos.
